To the citizens of La La Land

Yes, I am back after a long hiatus. Laziness, travel and winter have kept me away, but all things must come to an end, and here I am.

I am addressing this to all the citizens of the land of the pure who are outraged by the recent missile attack on our sovereign state and killing of 18 of its subjects by an American missile/drone/UAV.

According to convention, firing upon and killing of it citizens by another country is an act of war. But unfortunately it does not apply in this case, where we have allowed the foreigners total freedom to search and destroy whatever they deem dangerous to their mission of fighting terrorism. And trust me, this is neither the first time this has happened, nor will it be the last.

I saw some opposition party members on television last night who were blaming this on the military dictatorship of FL. Hey where were you when they bombed Afghanistan in 1998 and some missiles reported fell in Pakistan and there were casualties? Not that I am condoning the current establishment for what they are doing or not doing, all our governments are the same when it come to kowtowing to the powers that be. They say jump and we say how high. We have no honour except when it comes to misplaced notions of virtues which allows us to condone killings in its name. "Even the gods battle in vain against stupidity."

Another item of interest. The Lahore Marathon is about to take place. Because of our sense of "honour" it has been decided that men and women will run separately. You might be delighted to know that all the people arrested for destroying public property and disrupting the Gujranwalla Marathon were set free by the government, which decided to withdraw its case against them. Enlightened Moderation, wherefore art thou?

The PPM, the first P standing for puppet is in the US these days. He should be thankful that the members of his delegation were not strip-searched at the airport. The best part of this is that it was all filmed and shown to the public at large. We don't mind such things, since they have nothing to do with "honour". It is the price to pay for getting a joyride to the first world. And to all those who have a problem with this, tell me how many of us want to live there and enjoy the good things for the paltry cost of being singled out for "random" checking?

During my visit to the earthquake effected areas, I met this guy who was complaining that the helicopters aren't dropping any aid to his village. He blamed the army pilots for not letting the aid agencies send relief goods to his village, even alleging that the local guy was drunk and couldn't find their village when they did make an attempt. So it came as no surprise when I heard that some people tried to hijack a helicopter and beat up the Pakistani safety pilot, in order to ensure delivery of goods. I have no comment. I wonder what happened to the 5.8 billion in aid that we were supposed to get. I am sure its being put to good use, the two people in my office from the area have been given rupees 25,000 each for rebuilding. Maybe that's where it went. You do the math.

Still trying to figure out the whole ruckus about the dams. Nobody has come out with a rationale and cost of building them. Yes it will have an environmental impact, yes it will cost money, yes there will be more control on the water, it cant be all good or all bad. But somehow that's what it seems like. Instead of trying to explain why it makes sense, FL decided to play the nationalistic card, which I am afraid, doesn't work. There is absolute lack of trust when it comes to the government. Who can we trust?

There must be some good news, other than the fact that Angelina Jolie has visited Pakistan twice and met with the PPM and FL. I guess that's incentive enough to want to be in power.
