The news from La La Land
A few weeks have passed since I posted last, lots of things have happened in our wonderful land of the pure, and as usual, I feel the need to tell all.
1. Hasba Bill
What a wonderful development, the MMA government of NWFP has passed the Hasba Act, which is the best thing to happen to the province and the country since Zia passed the Hudood Ordinance. There is no need to extol on the virtues of this bill which will wipe out all evil from the province, since that is clear to all. The only problem I see with it is that as usual this will be used to victimize and persecute only the poor and the downtrodden, and the enforcement of this act will not extend to the high and mighty. The people who are reading this are not effected by such mundane things, and that's why some of them have no problems with it. Soon we will have a Hasba Force active in the wild west, and people should be prepared to get flogged if they are found indulging in amoral activities, can't have people not going for prayers, or not growing facial hair in the holy tradition, now can we?
2. The education report
This was publish by some evil foreign NGO and is full of lies, Pakistan stands last in terms of education for its people in terms of providing opportunity for its children to get primary education, and spending in proportion to other important things like buying Land Cruisers for its representatives. I say bullocks! It is far more important to spend money on the welfare of our elected and non-elected officials than silly things like education. Buying large SUVs for our enlightened leaders provides washing opportunities for these kids who have to earn a living for themselves and their impoverished lots, who are procreating like there is no tomorrow.
3. The beautiful Hudood Ordinance
An honourable brother decides to kill his seventeen year old sister, since she wants to marry some guy. After killing her, he gives himself up at the police station, knowing fully well that he is protected by the Qisaas and Diyaat act, which means that the elder brother can come forward and forgive him, absolving him of the crime he has committed. It is so brilliant that the law is formed in a way that the loopholes are clear to everyone, you don't even need a lawyer to interpret them. And we all know, lawyers are scum.
4. Saudi women
I can't understand their obsession with being able to drive on the road. Isn't it better to be driven? Its a good thing, the wise know that women are not meant to drive.
5. MM and ECL
I read today that she is still on the list, please refer to my earlier post. I guess I will have the last laugh.
6. A question
I am trying to figure out something about the Islamic laws, I have looked up some reference sites and I still don't have an answer. As far as I can see, one might be excused for committing a murder, but they will always have their hand cut off for theft. That doesn't seem fair. Anyone?
