Tales of the Unexpected

Some interesting stuff that I have read in the newspapers in the past few days

1. Mukhtar Mai and ECL

This is interesting. The government decides to put her name on the exit control when they find out she is traveling to the badlands. The PM says he doesn’t know anything about it. The Advisor to the government says, she is being provided with security, therefore she can’t move around freely. After meeting these morons in Islamabad, MM says she doesn’t want to travel since her mother is sick. Sounds real fishy to me.

Seems like there are people who are scared that if she goes abroad, our holy land's name will be maligned, because more people would know about our Enlightened Moderation, where a woman gets raped by a group of people because her brother or somebody had an affair with some woman or something. And then the law enforcement agencies don’t do anything about it. FL steps in and makes sure some of the culprits get arrest, after which they are all let go, because of some technicality.

Brilliant move! Kudos to whoever came up with this one, should be given Hilal-e-Pakistan for saving the name of the Holy Land.

2. Sheeda Tully and Bootcamps
I like that Kashmiri guy, called something Malik. He has such a sullen expression on his face all the time. I caught part of his speech on TV; he is not a happy camper. Anyway, he reportedly told the press yesterday that Sheeda Tully ran a Jihadi camp. Today he had a stroke and has been told to stay in bed and not talk to anyone. Hmmmm!!!! Is it just me?? Meanwhile, Sheeda Tully denies all and says he only gave food and shelter to people who came from Kashmir.

3. Women in the Parliament
Qazi's daughter says that women in the parliament is wrong. She is a member herself. To which she says, she will go home after all the women are sent home. Profound logic!!

4. PTCL
Government says we are selling off PTCL. Union says no way, we will go on strike. Government says privatization deferred indefinitely. Government sends army to take over the installations. Government says we are privatizing, Unions declared illegal, so go bugger off!! Now I really don’t have an opinion about the whole privatization (actually I do, but let’s worry about that later), the government is a lying bunch of morons, that’s what I have a problem with.

In my personal opinion, PTCL should be disbanded.

That about covers it.
