Baader-Meinhof Phenomenon

Quite a few years ago, I chanced upon a book called the White Hotel, and right after that, read something else with a reference to the same. Thought it was a coincidence. Then these things started happening with irregular frequency, I would come across an
obscure/abstract concept, and then be in a situation where I would use that information very soon. Told some people about it, they always looked at me in a funny way.

So imagine my delight, when I came across the "Baader-Meinhof phenomenon" which occurs when a person, after having learned some (usually obscure) fact, word, phrase, or other item for the first time, encounters that item again, perhaps several times, shortly after having learned it. Thank you Stumble Upon.

So I am not the only cuckoo in this nest.

I don't think there is anything magical about it. Probably something a bit hard to explain and the "recency" idea sort of does that.

I was wondering if anyone reading this has ever experienced something similar?

makes sense to me. We probably are more tuned in to what we recently come across , be it a word phrase idea whatever.. hence we're more apt to recognizing it soon there after. If the word, phrase or whatever makes an impact on you chances are you'll encounter it soon again only because you're now consciencely or un consciencely looking out for it.
ps: its me bugsy responding here .. I used to have blog under misreflect in my days of blog :-)

i believe it is possibly because that which you recently learned is still uppermost in your mind, so when you use a word or phrase soon thereafter it has that de ja vu feeling to it, you are definitely not the only cuckoo in the nest :)
